Facilitating Flexible Work
Businesses are being rebuilt, altered, and recreated in the aftermath of the global pandemic and a rapidly increasing technology revolution. With tailored technology, a new working environment might see enormous benefits for career fluidity, employee growth, and well-being. Technology has effectively brought together geographically separated teams. When employees and HR directors work remotely, they claim to feel more connected to their leadership team and colleagues than when they work in the office.
The workforce will become increasingly virtual, a tendency amplified by the COVID-19 pandemic. Individuals will opt to work remotely owing to real estate expenses or locational preferences. One of the most significant organizational issues of the future of work is sustaining a culture when the majority, if not all, of the employees are electronically distributed and may not even be employed by the company in traditional ways.
What does Future of Work Look like from Employee´s perspective:
As part of Citrix's Work 2035 initiative, the organization performed the Talent Accelerator research, a year-long analysis of global work patterns and plans meant to understand how work will evolve, and the role that technology will play in allowing people to perform at their best. More than 2,000 knowledge workers and 500 HR directors from major, established organizations and mid-market enterprises with at least 500 employees in the United States contributed to the Talent Accelerator study. Both groups of professionals were working under permanent contracts when the research was commissioned, and they were now or had recently been working from home because of Covid-19 constraints. With regards to future of Employee Management, research identified the following distinguishing goals among knowledge workers:
-
Flexible alternatives are expected by the vast majority of employees.
According to the report, 88 percent of knowledge workers say they will hunt for a job that allows them total flexibility in their hours and location when looking for a new job. In addition, 83 percent believe that, in response to the global skilled workforce crisis, businesses would use flexible work arrangements to reach out to qualified applicants regardless of where they reside – while just 66 percent of HR directors agree.
Employees will prioritize lifestyle (family and personal interests) over proximity to work, according to 76 percent of workers questioned, and will choose positions in regions where they can focus on both – even if it means accepting a wage reduction.
Employees believe that if they can work remotely for most of the time, they will be more inclined to leave cities and other metropolitan regions, creating new work centers in rural areas.
Organizations must meet employees where they are in order to position themselves to succeed in the future.
2. Productivity assessment needs to be adjusted with moving time
Companies will have to rethink how they assess productivity in the future since existing measures — and the belief that actual work can't be done outside the office — will no longer suffice. According to the report, today's employees prefer to be judged on the value they provide rather than the quantity. And they expect to be given the freedom and trust to perform their best job, no matter where they are.
86 percent of employees surveyed indicated they would like to work for a firm that places a higher value on results rather than productivity. New age workers want to work for a firm that is more concerned with the overall influence they can have on the business than with the quality of work they can create.
However, only 69 percent of HR directors say their company currently operates in this manner, and only half of HR directors believe their company would be more productive as a whole if employees felt their employer/senior management team trusted them to get the job done without monitoring their progress.
Forward-thinking organizations will work to bridge this gap by creating human-centric experiences that allow workers to reach their full potential and achieve revolutionary results.
Future of Work: Together
It is now imperative to be agile and flexible so as to cater to ever changing demands and needs. The future will be more human centric in nature, and caring for employees will be vital to business.
